Lewis Hamilton says the team’s “goal over these next six races” is to “win every race somehow”. He also comments on his relationship with Max Verstappen.

Lewis Hamilton arrived a few minutes late for the United States Grand Prix Thursday press conference, and he gave an interesting reason for this.

“I locked myself in my room and couldn’t get out,” the Briton said.

“But it feels good to be back here. We’ve had a very warm welcome. We always have a great crowd here and great races.”

Lewis has won five times previously at the Circuit of the Americas, so Mercedes is feeling cautiously optimistic about the race this year.

However, Lewis was asked if he expects the next race in Mexico to present more of a challenge, considering Red Bull has performed well there in the past.

“It’s important to win every race somehow, you know, maximising our points, that’s our goal over these next six races.

“It’s going to be incredibly difficult and there will be moments where we can perhaps edge them out and…

“I don’t like to assume that Mexico is not going to be strong but they are usually very strong in Mexico.

“But yes, I think it’s going to be… a lot can happen in these six races, so I think we just take it one race at a time, give it everything we’ve got.”

The Briton was also asked about his current relationship with Max Verstappen, considering their recent on-track clashes.

“Not really a huge amount to say, we have the limited communication… Maybe some of the drivers hang more than others do.

“I wouldn’t say I particularly hang closely with anybody here. Last year we would see each other at the track and we would say hi, we’ll do the same thing this year.

“It’s no different for me personally,” concluded Hamilton.
