Today rumours came out that Lewis Hamilton could be in for another engine swap. Lewis and Mercedes give their comments.
Rumours that Lewis Hamilton could be in for another engine swap in 2021 have persisted for a few weeks now. Today Red Bull advisor Dr Helmut Marko said he has heard that the engine swap will happen this weekend at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
When asked, a Mercedes spokesperson has told RacingNews365.com that the team “doesn’t announce their engine plans in advance”.
At the Thursday Brazilian Grand Prix press conference Lewis was asked if a swap will indeed happen this weekend.
“I can’t really comment at the moment,” said the Briton.
“I don’t know. I don’t think the engines have even arrived this morning. So as far as I’m aware currently, my engine is fine.

“But I’ll find out obviously, later on. We’ve not even done engineering meeting yet.”
Considering Lewis has a 19 points deficit to Max Verstappen, he was also asked how steep of a task he and the team have to win in Brazil.
“I would imagine as steep as it can be. I think their pace was phenomenal in the last race.
“They’ve had a strong car all year. They’ve had the strongest car all year, you can tell obviously. I think we’ve done as good as we think we could.
“We will definitely be pushing this weekend to see if we can squeeze any more out of the car. Last time here they were incredibly strong.
“We anticipate again they’ll be very hard to beat this weekend,” concluded the seven-time champion.
