Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff gives his opinion on how he expects Mercedes’ car to perform at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are approaching the final race of the 2021 season with equal points in the championship standings.
This means that whoever finishes in front at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, will become the 2021 champion.
However, if they both finish outside the points (or fail to finish), then Verstappen will become champion, because he has more race wins in than Lewis in 2021.
With so much hanging on the outcome of the final race of the season, Toto Wolff was asked to give his opinion on how Mercedes expects their car to perform in Abu Dhabi.

“I don’t know, because we arrived here thinking this track suited our car better,” the Austrian told Sky F1 Italia.
“Instead, we saw in qualifying they were half a second faster. In the race our car was faster than theirs, we have to understand why.
“For Abu Dhabi, it’s the same thing. I don’t know if we will be fast or not. It’s important we are equal with the points – we didn’t think we could be in this situation.
“This morning when I woke up I thought we can all be happy to see such a championship. I don’t remember in 10 years such an intense and great championship.
“I hope to win but we are already beyond my expectations,” Wolff concluded.
