Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff says he won’t attend FIA’s Prize-Giving Gala “because of my loyalty to Lewis and because of my own personal integrity”.
Mercedes has announced today that they will not appeal the stewards’ decision to dismiss their protest over the irregular decisions that were made in the final laps of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, that allowed Max Verstappen to become the world champion.
The statement comes after the FIA announced they will perform a “detailed analysis and clarification exercise” over what had happened in the race.
In a media session organized following Mercedes’ statement, team boss Toto Wolff confirmed him and Lewis Hamilton will not be present at the FIA’s Prize-Giving Gala tonight.

“No, both of us won’t be there and I won’t be there because of my loyalty to Lewis and because of my own personal integrity,” Wolff said.
“But we will be represented as a team by James Allison who will be taking the trophy on behalf of all the people in Brackley and Brixworth who should celebrate our eighth consecutive world championship title, who deserve to celebrate it because it is a fantastic achievement that we are all very proud of,” concluded the Austrian.
