German publication Bild reports that Mercedes has decided to bring back its iconic silver livery, after two years of racing with a black colour scheme.
Mercedes’ racing cars have traditionally had the silver colour scheme, which earned then the nickname ‘Silver Arrows’.
However, ahead of the start of the 2020 season the team announced they will switch to a predominantly black livery to show their support for the fight against racism and their commitment to increasing diversity and inclusion. Hints of silver returned in 2021, but the car remained mostly black.

Now German publication Bild reports that a decision has been made at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, for the team to return to its traditional silver colour scheme in 2022.
This, of course, was not officially confirmed by Mercedes, but there have been several statements made by the members of the team that hinted at the return of the Silver Arrows in 2022. Even Lewis Hamilton said he is not opposed to the team reverting back to its iconic color scheme.
We will probably have to wait for Mercedes’ livery reveal next year, to find out for sure.
