Lewis Hamilton jokes talking helped in his “relationship” with the W13, and says they “understood each other better and better as the season progressed”.

In a year-end interview with Sport Bild, Lewis Hamilton was asked if his relationship with the troubled W13 was “more of a love-hate relationship than a love affair”.

“Let’s put it this way, talking also helps in a relationship like this,” the Briton said.

“We understood each other better and better as the season progressed, the whole team worked great together – even better than before.

“The year was definitely not a disappointment for me.”

Asked what gives him hope for 2023, Lewis said:

“I know how hard it is to be at the top and to stay there. We want to get back to the top! What gives us great hope is the end of this season.

“The last few races have shown a clear positive trend and proved that with perseverance we can achieve anything,” Hamilton concluded.
