Max Verstappen says “if they can figure out how to improve and solve all the problems they had, Mercedes will certainly be our main rival”.
While for most of 2022, Mercedes wasn’t able to compete with Ferrari and Red Bull at the top of the grid, by the year’s end, the German team was able to mount a more serious challenge.
Despite Mercedes’ obvious issues, Max Verstappen expects the team to be Red Bull’s main rival in 2023.
“It’s hard to say why they had a fluctuating finish to 2022,” Verstappen told Sky.

“But if they can figure out how to improve and solve all the problems they had, Mercedes will certainly be our main rival.
“They have shown in recent years that they have a very strong team. The Ferrari? It will be strong, but how strong?
“Difficult to say,” the Dutch driver concluded.
