George Russell has taken to the track in Bahrain for the first morning session of 2023 pre-season testing. Sky Spots’ Ted Kravitz says “the car looks good so far”.
After a difficult 2022 season, during which Mercedes struggled with their troubled car, the German team finally took to the track for the first day of 2023 pre-season testing.
While last year in testing it was immediately obvious that Mercedes’ car was heavily bouncing, so far in 2023 George Russell seems to be having no issues with the ‘porpoising’ phenomenon.
Obviously, it is too early to give any verdicts on how good the car is, it’s nice to see that Mercedes seems to have come to grips with their biggest 2022 issue.
Sky Sports’ reporter Ted Kravitz also gave his first thoughts on how the Mercedes W14 looks on the track.

“Mercedes have to be one of the biggest stories of the winter because they’ve got such a long way to make up, nine, 10 months of development after last year’s car didn’t work out,” the Briton said.
“The car looks good so far, none of the bouncing we saw last year but they’ll know more after today,” Kravitz concluded.
