Max Verstappen says Lewis Hamilton’s comments about Red Bull’s speed are “not correct”, as the Austrian team is “not as dominant as Mercedes has shown in some years”.
After the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton pointed out how dominant the 2023 Red Bull was compared to everybody else on the grid.
“I have definitely never seen a car so fast,” Lewis said.
“When we were fast, we were not that fast. That is the fastest car I have seen, especially compared to the rest.
“I don’t know how, but he [Verstappen] came past me with some serious speed and I didn’t even bother to block him because there was a massive speed difference.
“Everyone wants to see a close battle, but it is the way it is. It is not my problem, it is not my fault,” he concluded.
Some pundits, including Sky Sports’ Ted Kravitz then pointed out that Lewis was right, and implied that this fact raises some questions about the RB19.

When asked about this, Max Verstappen said his Red Bull is not as dominant as Mercedes has been in recent years.
“I think if you look at the statistics, those statements are not correct,” the Dutch driver said.
“But we also have a very good car! There is of course nothing wrong with that. Yet we are not as dominant as Mercedes has shown in some years.”
Verstappen added that making such comments will not help Mercedes get better.
“I don’t spend much time with that, but it won’t help you either. Whatever we have done in the eight years that Mercedes [has been] so dominant, we also tried to close the gap.
“That’s all you can do!” he concluded.
