Toto Wolff says he “can only smile” when he hears the media speculate about the supposed tensions between Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.

The F1 media likes to speculate about relationship between team-mates, and definitely loves a good controversy.

Ever since George Russell joined Mercedes last year, a lot of the media outlets tried to make it seem like there are tensions between the young Briton and his older team-mate Lewis Hamilton, which couldn’t be further from the truth.

The notion was also dismissed by Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff, when he was asked about this type of media speculation.

“I hardly follow it,” the Austrian said.

“And if I overhear one or the other comment, I can only smile about it. George is doing a good job, but that’s exactly what we expected from him, that’s why he’s at Mercedes.

“I don’t notice anything about it on the team. These are background noises played through the press.

“Lewis and George push each other,” Wolff concluded.
