Sky Sports’ David Croft believes Mercedes could announce Lewis Hamilton‘s contract extension at Silverstone, while rumours emerge about Lewis’ alleged demands.
In recent weeks and months there have been numerous rumours making the rounds regarding Lewis Hamilton’s contract situation.
While we know for sure that the negotiations are going on, there’s as of this moment absolutely no official word about the details.
The newest rumour comes from The Daily Mail, who claim they learned that Lewis wants a long-term deal, with a 10-year ambassadorial role. According to the report, Mercedes is not ready to commit to such a deal.
We normally stay away from such rumours, but this one has been making its way around the F1 media, and it’s important to note that at this point it is completely unsubstantiated.
Not only that, but Sky Sports F1’s David Croft believes Hamilton’s new deal could be announced at the British Grand Prix.

“The devil is in the detail,” Croft said.
“Lewis wants to stay at Mercedes. Mercedes want to stay with him. It will get done.
“It won’t be about money, it will be about support for the Hamilton commission, support with the various things Lewis wants to do – tie ups in the future, maybe an ambassadorial role.
“There will be lots of different things that need sorting out but it will get done. It wouldn’t surprise me if it gets done at Silverstone.
“That would be a logical thing,” he concluded.
