Toto Wolff says in Lewis Hamilton’s contract negotiations “we’re not talking anything anymore about duration, money, all of that”, but “other topics”.

Lewis Hamilton is in the middle of negotiations for his next Mercedes contract.

There were some rumours going around recently, saying that the announcement of a deal being made could happen during the British Grand Prix weekend, but after the Austrian Grand Prix, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff said it won’t happen at Silverstone.

However, he did say he is confident the deal will be done.

“I’m still very confident,” the Austrian said.

“They want to do it super, to every detail and sometimes you can have a situation where everything is carved out.

“This is not a money discussion at all. It is about the future, what is it that we want to do right and optimise?

“We’re not talking anything anymore about duration, money, all of that, it’s other topics.”

Toto was then asked how long will Lewis be driving for Mercedes.

“For a while. The Brits say a couple means two, and the Americans say a couple means a few.

“So it is somewhere there,” Wolff concluded.
