Amid his Mercedes contract negotiations, Lewis Hamilton says “before the end of the season we’ll be already well into the contract”.
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff recently said he is confident Lewis Hamilton’s new deal with the team will be signed, and he added that the negotiations are not about money or the length of his contract, but “other things”.
Asked at the British Grand Prix Thursday press conference if he can confirm this, Lewis said: “That’s correct.”
When Sky Sports F1 asked Lewis if Mercedes’ current performance issues are making him reconsider signing the new deal, Lewis denied it.
“That’s not what I’m thinking,” he said.

“Before the end of the season we’ll be already well into the contract. I still have 100 per cent faith in this team.”
He also added he believes Mercedes is on its way to recovery.
“It is taking longer for all of us to get to where we want to be and it’s definitely not easy, but I believe that we will get there.
“We’ve just got to continue to work and chip away at it and that’s what we’re trying to do,” the Briton concluded.
