Red Bull’s advisor Dr Helmut Marko says his team is “especially happy that Hamilton is not next to us” at the start of the British Grand Prix.
At British Grand Prix Qualifying, Max Verstappen has once again put his car on pole, while right behind him are surprisingly the two McLarens.
Ahead of the race, Red Bull’s advisor Dr Helmut Marko said his team is “especially happy” that Lewis Hamilton is not starting next to Verstappen, obviously alluding to the two drivers often clashing on the track.
“We are happy that once again someone else is behind us,” Marko told Kronen Zeitung.
“And we are especially happy that Hamilton is not next to us. That is a reassurance in itself.”
Interestingly Hamilton and Verstappen had another close encounter in British Grand Prix Qualifying.

While drivers were preparing for their flying laps, Lewis and Max found themselves close to each other. Lewis was in front at the time and was weaving to warm up his tyres, while Max was eager to get ahead.
This led to a close situation that could have ended with a collision. Marko gave his comments on the situation.
“When that happened, not such good memories surfaced,” he said.
“We didn’t actually have McLaren on our radar. So I don’t know what their race pace is like or their tyre wear.
“I think we do have a buffer. In fact, we are usually just a bit better in the race,” the Austrian concluded.
