The stewards have cleared Lewis Hamilton of any wrongdoing when he rejoined the track in front of George Russell at Belgian Grand Prix Qualifying.
Lewis Hamilton and George Russell have been summoned to the stewards, after an incident at Belgian Grand Prix Qualifying.
Lewis was driving ahead of George throught the Eau Rogue – Raidallion ascent, but near the top Lewis drove off the circuit and managed to rejoin the track, but very close to George, who lifted off the throttle.
As a result of this manoeuvre, Lewis was placed under investigation for unsafely rejoining the track, and both drivers had to report the stewards after the session.
Ultimately the stewards cleared Hamilton and decided not to take any further action.

“Hamilton explained that he had been warned of the approach of Bottas and moved out of the way, in this case off track,” the stewards wrote in their verdict.
“Russell explained that he had the same warning but moved out of the way later.
“He also explained that as he was on the same program as Hamilton he was fully aware of what Hamilton was doing and that at no point was the manoeuvre unsafe.
“The Stewards agree and take no further action,” the verdict concluded.
