Christian Horner continues to insist that Lewis Hamilton’s team reached out to Red Bull in the past to inquire about a possible seat with the team.

Ahead of the 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Christian Horner said that earlier this year Lewis Hamilton’s team inquired about a possible seat with Red Bull.

Lewis has since completely denied the story, and said Horner was the one to reach out to him via text message.

However, in a talk with RaceFans, Horner continues to insist the that Lewis’ team did approach him.

“They were just expressing interest,” the Briton said.

“But that’s not unusual, let’s put it that way. Maybe it’s slightly awkward for Lewis, obviously, with his own team. It’s not unusual for people to reach out.

“I’m not going to go into the details of the where, who and why, but perhaps they wouldn’t be doing their job if they didn’t.

“I’d be rather surprised if they hadn’t informed Lewis but you never know how managements work with different athletes,” Horner concluded.
