Ever since Lewis Hamilton’s exit from Mercedes was announced, speculation over who will replace him has been running rampant. Some are even mentioning Sebastian Vettel.
On Thursday it was announced that Lewis Hamilton will leave Mercedes at the end of 2024, to go to Ferrari.
The news of course prompted everybody, from F1 fans to journalists, to speculate on who will replace the seven-time champion in 2025.
Since rumours of four-time champion Sebastian Vettel’s return to the sport have been making the rounds for quite some time now, some are speculating that Seb could be the one to replace his good friend.
Interestingly, earlier this week Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff was asked about the possibility of Seb returning to F1 to drive for Mercedes, and his response was very interesting.

“I think he made the decision to not race anymore,” the Austrian told Auto Motor und Sport.
“We are talking on a regular basis. We’ve also talked yesterday, but it wasn’t about driving for us in the future,” he concluded.
There’s no doubt that bringing in Germany’s most recent champion to a German powerhouse team, definitely holds some appeal to Mercedes’ board in Stuttgart, however, whether Sebastian would even consider a return to the sport that he left at the end of 2022, remains a big question.
Nevertheless, it is an interesting story to follow.
