Toto Wolff says, as much as he ‘hates’ Mercedes’ current situation, Frederic Vasseur, Ferrari and Italy ‘deserve’ the success they had at the Australian Grand Prix.
After Ferrari’s amazing 1-2 at the Australian Grand Prix, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff said he was happy to see his friend Frederic Vasseur and his team achieve such success.
“First of all, I’m happy for Ferrari, I’m happy for Fred [Vasseur], he deserves that,” the Austrian said.
“Last year we were flying together and on the flight Dubai to Melbourne in Emirates, he had a disc that jumped out and he couldn’t sit or sleep and he was standing in the aeroplane for 13 hours.

“And then one of his cars crashed out and the other one finished P4. And it looked disastrous. And he had the pressure of all of Italy and now he’s had a 1 and 2.
“And as much as I hate our situation, he deserves that. And Ferrari deserves that.
“And Italy deserves it,” Wolff concluded.
