Toto Wolff says he has no doubt that if Lewis Hamilton “aligns all his performance contributors and feels he is in the right space and the car is to his liking, he will be stellar”.
Lewis Hamilton’s start with Ferrari did not turn out the way he had hoped. Unfortunately, the team’s car did not turn out to be a winner from the get go, and he has himself admitted he needs some time to adjust to his new team.
While some observers are questioning if Lewis still has what it takes to be on top of Formula 1, his former team boss Toto Wolff is certain the “magic” is still there.
“I think we saw that magic in the Sprint race [in China],” the Austrian said.
“He was completely dominating that race. It’s not like you have the magic in one race and then suddenly you lose the magic in the next one.

“I very much believe that it’s still there. If he aligns all his performance contributors and feels he is in the right space and the car is to his liking, he will be stellar. I have no doubt.
“But I’m also not surprised it has those road bumps.”
Toto added a period of adjustment to new surroundings is to be expected from any driver, especially one that has been driving for the same team for 12 years.
“He was with us 12 years – the way of operating. He’s been put in a Ferrari, where his team mate has been [for] a long time, and his team mate clearly is one of the very good ones.
“So from the outside, and speaking to him, it’s a trajectory any new driver needs to go through in a top team,” Wolff concluded.
