Ahead of the Australin Grand Prix, Lando Norris has corrected reporters who said George Russell is a title favourite, and said Mercedes are the favourites.
In an interview with Sky Sports F1, 2025 F1 champion Lando Norris corrected a reported who started to say George Russell was a title favourite for 2026.
“Mercedes are [favourites],” Norris interjected.
Asked if this means he is expecting Russell’s team-mate Kimi Antonelli to also challenge for the title, the Briton said:

You never know! Just saying Mercedes are [favourites]. Mercedes have looked very good but it’s a very long year, so I’m not getting ahead of myself.
“We still have a chance, and we’ll be doing our best to fight everyone possible,” Norris concluded.
Russell and Antonelli have qualified in P1 and P2 respectively for the Australian Grand Prix, so we just might get the first battle of these two team-mates.
