The World Motor Sport Council has approved Formula 1’s 2021 calendar that will feature 23 races – the longest season to date!
The season will start on March 21 in Australia and end on December 5 in Abu Dhabi.
There are only three races still not completely confirmed. The proposed track in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia is still subject to circuit homologation, an agreement still has to be made with the race promoter in Barcelona and the April 25 date, that was set for the Vietnam Grand Prix, is still open.
The meeting of the World Motor Sport Council was held in Geneva via video conference. The WMC congratulated Formula 1 on its successful completion of the 2020 season, despite the global pandemic, while FIA President Jean Todt thanked outgoing F1 Chairman and CEO Chase Carey for his contributions to the sport since he took over in 2017, and welcomed Stefano Domenicali as the new CEO.
