Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff praises the Formula E success of ROKiT Venturi Racing, an independent team led by his wife Susie.

By winning the first FIA recognized Formula E drivers’ and teams’ championships Mercedes has once again proven they are the giants of motorsport.

However, Toto Wolff also wanted to highlight the success of a smaller team, one that doesn’t have a large corporation behind it. That team is ROKiT Venturi Racing, and it is led by Wolff’s wife Susie.

“Of course, we were very happy about the title,” the Austrian told BILD.

“But Edoardo Mortara not only became runner-up in the championship, but Susie’s driver Norman also won the last Berlin race.

“This is at least to be regarded as an equal success. To make a private team competitive without a large corporation behind it, and to lead to victories and a runner-up in the World Championship cannot be rated highly enough.

After winning the both Formula E titles Mercedes announced they will be leaving the series after next season.

With Audi and BMW pulling out immediately after the end of the 2020/2021 season, many are questioning what the future holds for the series.

“Upheavals always offer opportunities for change. At first glance, of course, it is unfortunate that three premium manufacturers are leaving at the same time.

“But maybe Formula E needs some sort of reboot right now to take the next step. Other teams, possibly more private ones, will grow because they will come into the spotlight.”
