Former F1 driver Martin Brundle says home turf advantage for Max Verstappen in the coming races won’t stop “experienced” and “wise” Lewis Hamilton.

This weekend Formula 1 is racing in Belgium, where there are expected to be a lot of Dutch fans. Next, F1 moves to Max Verstappen’s home race in Zandvoort.

While discussing if this will help Max Verstappen’s performance, Sky Sports analyst Martin Brundle said it obviously will, but he doesn’t believe it will give a huge advantage over “experienced” and “wise” Lewis Hamilton.

“They’re allowing around 70,000 people into this facility every day and you’re right, a lot of them will be Max Verstappen fans”, Brundle said.

“It helps when there are plenty of Union Jacks on display in the stands, but you know Lewis Hamilton is so experienced, so wise.

“He knows what he’s got to do and he knows how to win a World Championship, of course with seven of them already in his pocket.

“I think he’s going to be really tough to beat in the second half of the year”, concluded the Briton.

When journalists asked Max Verstappen if the next two races are “must wins” for him, considering the crowd is going to be on his side, he said they weren’t because of that.

“The home crowd is not going to give me any extra lap time,” the Dutch driver said.

In fact he says it “shouldn’t because then you’re clearly doing something wrong in all those other races.

“But that extra support never hurts, as I’ve already seen in Austria. So it can only get better,” concluded Verstappen.
