Johnny Herbert’s departure from Sky Sports has been of interest for Lewis Hamilton fans, as he was very vocal in the aftermath of the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Sky Sports recently announced that former F1 driver Johnny Herbert will not be a part of their Formula 1 broadcast team in 2023.
This news prompted many Lewis Hamilton fans on social media to speculate that the Briton was removed due to his post Abu Dhabi 2021 comments, in which he blasted the FIA’s decision-making process in that race, and said that the result “was very unfortunate” and “totally wrong”.
Herbert has since commented on his ‘unfortunate’ departure.
“I’m not with Sky this year, unfortunately, but there are other things I’ll be getting involved with,” he told Last Lap Lucy.

“I’ll be at Silverstone for sure, and the Monaco Grand Prix. I’m hoping to get to Le Mans as well this year, because that’s going to be a big event this time around.
“I’m doing a bit of karting – not racing, just testing. My son-in-law wants me to race but I don’t really want to, but you’ll probably see me on a go-kart track near you. I’ve got various things going on.
“I’m enjoying things on the track and also life off the track as well,” Herbert concluded.
