Michael Masi is back in the F1 paddock in Melbourne, for the first time since being removed from his race director role. Ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton was asked if he will try to speak to him.
After his controversial decisions at the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which denied Lewis Hamilton his almost certain eighth championship title win, the FIA removed Michael Masi from his role as race director.
Not only that, but the FIA’s official investigation into the matter has determined that Masi had made a “human error” in Abu Dhabi, and this “error” basically handed Max Verstappen the 2021 title on a silver platter. Since then, the Australian has not been seen in the Formula 1 paddock.
However, ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, Masi is back in the paddock in his new role as the Independent Chair of the Supercars Commission, since Supercars will be one of the support races over the race weekend.

During his Thursday media duties, Hamilton was asked if he plans on speaking to the Australian to ask for clarification over what had happened in Abu Dhabi.
“I don’t,” the Briton said.
“I am just focused on my future. I am focused on trying to get back to winning.
“There is nothing to say,” Hamilton concluded.
