After Fernando Alonso questioned Lewis Hamilton’s “childhood dream” of going to Ferrari, Nico Rosberg says he can understand that Lewis is “fulfilling a personal dream” with the move.
After it was announced that Lewis Hamilton will be joining Ferrari in 2025, the Briton said it has been his “childhood dream” to drive for the Italian team.
When Fernando Alonso was asked about Lewis’ decision, he questioned the Briton’s statement.
“It was not his childhood dream 12 months ago, no?” Alonso asked with a smile.
“Or two months ago, I guess, it was a different dream,” he concluded.
Lewis’ former Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg, however, completely understands his ‘dream’.
“It surprised me,” Rosberg told Suddeutsche Zeitung.

“But if you look at the big picture, there are two legendary teams that everyone wants to drive for – Ferrari and Mercedes.
“So I can understand that he is fulfilling a personal dream with this.”
Rosberg has also been mentioned in connection with Mercedes’ now vacant 2025 seat, however, the German says he is not considering a return to Formula 1.
“It’s over, I’m not planning a comeback,” he said.
“I’d have to prepare intensively for a whole year just to train the synapses in the brain again,” Rosberg concluded.
