Lewis Hamilton amazed everyone by overcoming a penalty that relegated him to the back of the grid, and finishing the Sprint Race in P5. He wants to go even further in the main race!

There’s no doubt that Lewis Hamilton’s drive from P20 to P5 in 24 laps is one of the all-time great Formula 1 drives. The Briton looks back on his amazing Sprint Qualifying Race.

“I’m overwhelmed with it to be honest, I definitely wasn’t expecting that,” said the Briton.

“You never really know whether or not overtaking’s going to be possible on a track like this, but that long straight enabled us to progress faster and the car was really great.”

Lewis has now set his sights on the main race on Sunday, that he will start from P10 due to an engine-related five-place grid penalty.

“Really it was just the mental state of mind that I went into, which was just never give up, keep pushing, still I rise, you can do this.

“Because it was really difficult to swallow the result that we got [the penalty] but we won’t let that hold us back.

“Now I’ve got to start focusing on tomorrow. I’ll give it everything. It’s a much longer race tomorrow so hopefully we can get further,” Hamilton concluded.
