Lewis Hamilton is set for another grid penalty at the Brazilian Grand Prix after Mercedes decided to fit his car with a new Internal Combustion Engine (ICE).

Lewis will drop five places on the grid at Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix, but he will start tomorrow’s sprint qualifying race wherever he qualifies in today’s qualifying.

This is the fifth engine swap that Lewis has had in 2021, so this time he will drop only five places. He received his fourth engine at the Turkish Grand Prix, where he had to drop down ten places.

The swap was announced ahead of Friday’s first free practice, that Lewis went on to top, with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez right behind him.

Although this will make the weekend difficult for Hamilton, it was a needed change, because a DNF at this point in the season would be catastrophic for the Briton’s title hopes.
