Mercedes has announced their driver line-up for the post-season Pirelli test at the Yas Marina Circuit, and it consists of – George Russell!
Although it is usual to use two drivers in the post-season Pirelli test, this year Mercedes’ 2022 driver George Russell will be driving for the team on both days.
This is believed to be because Lewis Hamilton is scheduled to receive his knighthood at Windsor Castle on Wednesday.

In the test the teams will run a special mule car for the 2022 18-inch tyre testing programme, while one day will also be reserved for a run with the 2021 car, driven by a young driver.
The 2021 car for Mercedes will be driven by the team’s reserve driver and reigning Formula E champion Nyck de Vries.
