The usually very reliable German broadcaster RTL reports their sources say Lewis Hamilton will “almost certainly” be present at Mercedes’ 2022 car launch on February 18.

Aside from a pre-taped video for Mercedes and a statement regarding Sky’s donation to Mission 44, Lewis Hamilton has remained silent in the media since the controversial ending of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Taking this, and Toto Wolff’s statement that he ‘hopes’ Lewis will compete in Formula 1 in 2022, into account, the media has continued to speculate about the Briton’s future.

Mercedes has already announced that both of their drivers will be present at the February 18 launch of their 2022 challenger – the W13, however, they did not mention those drivers by name.

Well now German broadcaster RTL reports they learned that Lewis will “almost certainly” be there.

“Fans of Lewis Hamilton can breathe a sigh of relief: the record-holding world champion will almost certainly continue his Formula 1 career and try to regain his crown from Max Verstappen in 2022,” wrote RTL.

“According to RTL/ntv information, Hamilton will be present at the presentation of the W13 on February 18 and will take his place in the new Silver Arrow for the first time.”

This report has been brought by F1 reporter Felix Görner.

As we already wrote on multiple occasions, there has never been any official word that Hamilton might quit Formula 1, from him or the team, so as it stands he is Mercedes’ 2022 driver.
