After Red Bull’s double retirement from the Bahrain Grand Prix, some F1 fans have suggested it was karma for what happened in Abu Dhabi. Lewis Hamilton was asked is he agrees.

The surprise double retirement for Red Bull at the Bahrain Grand Prix allowed Mercedes do climb to P3 and P4, a very good result considering how much problems the team has had with their car.

After the race some Formula 1 fans on social media started saying that what happened to Red Bull is karma for unjustly winning the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, after race director Michael Masi broke the rules that govern the use of the Safety Car.

At the post Bahrain GP press conference, Lewis Hamilton was asked if he agrees.

“I don’t have a response to it,” the Briton said.

“I just focused on our job. Obviously it was unfortunate for them today but, yeah, I just focus on positives.”

Lewis was then asked if he believes Max Verstappen’s loss of points could be relevant in the championship fight, if Mercedes is able to join it.

Look it’s such early days,” Hamilton said.

“Reliability of course is always a key player, but with the performance they have, they look strong.

“To be able to come back strong in the next races I think for us, we just keep our head down. We’ve got a lot of work to do, we’re not currently fighting them necessarily on track.

“So that’s what we’ll focus on,” Lewis concluded.
