Lewis Hamilton was asked to give his reaction to the FIA’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix report, and he says he “wasn’t expecting an apology”.
The controversial finish of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix saw Max Verstappen being crowned the 2021 champion, after race director Michael Masi broke the rules that govern the use of the Safety Car.
Afterwards the FIA launched an investigation into what had happened, and on Saturday, between the Bahrain Grand Prix FP3 and Qualifying, the FIA released an “executive summary” from their report.
In the report they acknowledged the rules were not followed, but they tried to excuse it with phrases like ‘acting in good faith’ and ‘making a human error’.
Lewis Hamilton was asked if he had seen the report and if he had any comments.

“To be honest, I didn’t look at it,” he said.
“I might read it after the weekend. But I wasn’t expecting an apology – that’s not something I focus on.
“It is what it is and at least it says it was human error, that’s a positive step.
“Unfortunately, we cannot turn back the clock and change the past,” Hamilton concluded.
