Lewis Hamilton says Mercedes is “trying to make sure we hit the ground running” ahead of the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.

Mercedes did not have the easiest of times in 2023 Pre-Season Testing, as the W14 did not seem to perform as well as the team had hoped for – if they are not sandbagging, of course.

After the final day of 2023 Pre-Season Testing, Lewis Hamilton said a big positive is that porpoising seems to be completely gone.

“The bouncing that we had has pretty much gone,” the Briton said.

“That’s a huge step for us. It’s nice to drive without the bouncing for once, but there are still some underlying things that we’re working through.”

As for the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix, Hamilton said:

“It’s going to be tough, I think for everyone. This short period of testing, when I first started we had a lot more testing, so for anybody that’s coming in, you have a day and a half. It’s definitely not a lot of running.

“But these are all professionals and so we’ll so the best job we can. We’re trying to make sure we hit the ground running.

“It’s [about] understanding the car and the tyres to the best of our ability,” Hamilton concluded.
