Lewis Hamilton says he would be open to trying IndyCar and NASCAR “at some stage”, but he doesn’t “plan on leaving” Formula 1 “anytime soon”.
While Formula 1 is the number one motorsport series in the world, in the United States fans of racing are generally more interested in US series like IndyCar and NASCAR.
So, when F1 arrived in the US last weekend, it’s not surprising that Lewis Hamilton was asked if he would be open to get behind the wheel of IndyCar or NASCAR machinery.
“I did a car swap with Tony Stewart years ago [in 2011], which was fun,” Lewis said.
“I’d love to try [NASCAR] at some stage. It’s not a dream for me to go race another series, but I am an admirer, I’m a fan of racing and other sports. So I would like to try it.”

As for Indycar, Lewis also said he would like to try their cars out, however he is still fully focused on Formula 1.
“It’s an amazing opportunity, I got to swap with Valentino Rossi and try a MotoGP bike, and I sometimes watch IndyCar. I’d love to try one of those cars at some stage.
“I’m not a big fan of the big [aero] screen that they have, but the cars sound and looks good.
“But right now, my focus is solely on Formula 1 and I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon,” Hamilton concluded.
