Toto Wolff recently said Red Bull’s advisor Dr Helmut Marko was welcome at Mercedes. Marko answers the offer, while Toto explains he wasn’t being serious.
Ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, rumours emerged that Red Bull’s advisor Dr Helmut Marko was under investigation by the team for allegedly leaking details of the investigation into Christian Horner’s alleged inappropriate behaviour toward a female employee.
According to Marko himself, the team was considering suspending him. Some believe this is all a part of an internal power struggle between a camp led by Marko and Max Verstappen’s father Jos, and a camp led by Horner.
When asked about the Marko situation, Max said his future with Red Bull is dependent on Marko staying with the team.
Toto Wolff was also asked about the situation and he teased Marko could join Mercedes in a role similar to the late great Niki Lauda’s, obviously hinting at the fact that this could entice Max to follow him and join the German team.

When asked about Wolff’s ‘offer’, Marko said he is not interested at this moment.
“That’s very nice, but at the moment I can gratefully decline this offer,” the Austrian said.
When Wolff himself was asked to clarify his original statement, he explained he was joking.
“It was a joke,” Toto wolf Viaplay.
“I think Max is in a quick car and as a driver you stay in a quick car, it was a joke,” the Austrian concluded.
