Auto Motor und Sport reports that Mercedes has already approved Max Verstappen’s salary if he chooses to join the team.

Rumours surrounding Max Verstappen’s possible jump to Mercedes in 2025 have been in overdrive lately.

However, since the latest one is coming from a reputable source like Auto Motor und Sport, we decided to report it.

According to AMuS, Mercedes has already approved Max Verstappen’s salary should he choose to join the team, and it reportedly even surpasses Lewis Hamilton’s current deal.

However, the outlet also reports that the Verstappen camp wants proof of race-winning potential, before they decide on the jump.

Former F1 driver, and current analyst for Dutch outlet Ziggo Sport, Robert Doornbos also said recently that he’s heard from a reliable source that Max is already in talks with Mercedes, and that the team’s plan for their 2025 engine was “one of the most important questions that would have been discussed”.

Doornbos added that “something is happening behind the scenes”, and he believes “we will have a lot of news in April”.
