BBC Sport reports that Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna is not willing to meet Adrian Newey’s salary demands, and the Briton now seems closer to Aston Martin and McLaren.
While it was expected that design guru Adrian Newey will more than likely join Ferrari after he is free from his Red Bull deal in early 2025, new reports are now coming out saying that this potential deal has hit a serious roadblock.
According to BBC Sport’s Andrew Benson, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna is not willing to meet Adrian Newey’s salary demands.
“Sources close to Ferrari have told BBC Sport that chief executive officer Benedetto Vigna has baulked at the level of salary Newey commands and that there is a concern he would have too much power and could override the system inside the company,” Benson wrote.

“Senior sources in the sport say that Newey is actively engaged with Aston Martin at the moment, and that this is looking his most likely destination. McLaren remain another possibility.
“Newey, meanwhile, is said not to have made up his mind where to go,” the Briton concluded.
While nobody is talking at this moment about Mercedes as a possible destination, there’s no doubt that the German team will at least explore the possibility of Newey’s arrival.
