BBC reports that Red Bull’s advisor Dr Helmut Marko is willing to resign from the team to allow Max Verstappen to get out of his contract.
When the internal battle within Red Bull came to light a few weeks ago, it was revealed that Max Verstappen’s contract is tied to that of the team’s advisor Dr Helmut Marko’s.
What that means is that allegedly if Helmut Marko leaves the team, it would allow Verstappen to get out of his current contract, which lasts until the end of 2028.
But why would he want to get out of the contract in the first place, when Red Bull is so dominant?
Well, rumours going around are that Verstappen’s camp is not convinced that the Austrian team is in a good position when it comes to delivering a competitive engine when the new F1 rules get introduced in 2026.

Additionally, there’s no doubt that the departure of legendary designed Adrian Newey from the team, the person who is largely believed to be responsible for Red Bull’s current run of success, also doesn’t sit well with Verstappen and the people around him.
Mercedes’ Toto Wolff has openly expressed the team’s interest in signing Verstappen as a replacement for Lewis Hamilton, who is set to leave the team at the end of 2024.
Well, BBC now reports that Helmut Marko is ready to quit Red Bull to allow Verstappen to get out of his contract, if he Dutchman decides he wants to enter the new F1 era with a different team.
It remains to be seen how this whole situation will develop in the weeks and months to come.
