Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly have been disqualified from the Chinese Grand Prix, which promotes Kimi Antonelli from P8 to P6.

After the Chinese Grand Prix, the FIA announced that Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly have been disqualified from the race for failing post-race technical checks.

In Leclerc and Gasly’s cases, their cars were found to be underweight by 1kg. Both Ferrari and Alpine said that there were no mitigating factors for their infringements.

“During the hearing there was no challenge to the FIA’s measurements which are taken to be correct and that all required procedures were performed correctly,” the stewards wrote.

“There are no mitigating circumstances and that the team confirmed that it was a genuine error by them,” they concluded.

Hamilton’s car, on the other hand, was found to have excessive wear to the rearward skids. Ferrari admitted it happened due to a setup mistake.

“During the hearing the team representative confirmed that the measurement is correct and that all required procedures were performed correctly,” the stewards wrote.

“The team also acknowledged that there were no mitigating circumstances and that it was a genuine error by the team,” they concluded.

The disqualification of Hamilton and Leclerc has promoted Andrea Kimi Antonelli from P8 to P6.
