Lewis Hamilton has received a post-race drive-through penalty for speeding in the pitlane at the Miami Grand Prix Sprint Race.

Lewis Hamilton was set to score one point in the Miami Grand Prix Sprint Race, when he went from P12 to P8, but after the race he received a drive-through penalty and got demoted to P16.

The reason for the penalty was speeding in the pitlane during the early Safety Car period.

The Safety Car was deployed after Lance Stroll went into the side of Fernando Alonso, who then hit Lando Norris and caused the Briton’s retirement.

Due to debris at the first corner, the Safety Car went through the pitlane, and at that point Hamilton was caught speeding.

The drive-through penalty was converted post-race to a 20-second time penalty, and it ultimately cost Lewis his single point.
