Lewis Hamilton has received a three-pace grid penalty for impeding Sergio Perez during Q1 of Dutch Grand Prix Qualifying.

After Dutch Grand Prix Qualifying, Lewis Hamilton has been summoned to the stewards for allegedly impeding Sergio Perez in Q1.

While the Briton was on a slow lap, Perez came up behind him on a flying lap, which led to the two almost coming together.

This led to Perez saying over his team radio, “What the f*** is this idiot doing?“, while Hamilton said he was ”well out of his way”.

The stewards have decided that Lewis is to blame for the incident and they handed him a three-pace grid penalty.

“The driver of Car 44, being on an in lap, was informed by the team that Car 11 was approaching on a fast lap when he entered Turn 8,” the verdict read.

“He then drove off line at the exit of Turn 8 with the intention to give way for Car 11. However, when Car 11, arrived, Car 44 had already entered Turn 9 and drove back towards the racing line at the exit of Turn 9, thereby clearly impeding Car 11,” the stewards concluded.
