Canadian Grand Prix Free Practice 1 has been red flagged after Pierre Gasly stopped on the track, but it was never restarted due to CCTV issues.
In the opening moments of Canadian Grand Prix Free Practice 1, Pierre Gasly’s car ground to a halt due to power issues, which led to the session being red flagged.
However, the session was never restarted due to a CCTV issue.
“The delay will be longer as the CCTV is not synced correctly and until the issue has been fixed we cannot run on track,” the FIA’s statement read.
“This system is a local installation and they are continuing to work to resolve the problem. The clock will continue to run down on FP1 and the session won’t be extended as there must be 2.5hrs between FP1 and FP2.
“We are looking at options to extend FP2,” the statement concluded.
It was later announced that FP2 will start 30 minutes ahead of its scheduled start time, and be extended by half an hour to make up for the time lost in FP1.
