Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz accuses Mercedes of sandbagging and says Ferrari has seen “what they are doing” in the GPS data.
Mercedes seems to be having problems in the Bahrain pre-season test, with Lewis Hamilton even saying that the team will not be able to fight for victories just yet.
Additionally, George Russell said that Ferrari is “globally the strongest” team on the grid right now, however Carlos Sainz will have none of it.
“I think it’s typical Mercedes, typical George,” Sainz said.
“Just hype up the others and then come to the first race and blow the competition away, which is typical.
“If it had would be the first year they’ve done it then I would maybe believe them, but they’ve done it for five six years now and they keep [performing] in the first race.

“Yes, I’m not going to say much,” the Spaniard concluded.
His team-mate Charles Leclerc also said he believes Mercedes is hiding its true pace.
“I’m sure that Mercedes and Red Bull have so much more to come and are just hiding their game a lot for now,” Leclerc said.
“So, it doesn’t mean much, the timing page, but on the other hand we are focusing on ourselves and for now it is a good test.
“We haven’t had any particular issues,” he concluded.
