Red Bull team boss Christian Horner says “people in this business have such very short memories” and claims “time will move on” from the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix controversy.
It’s been almost a month since the controversial ending of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that saw Max Verstappen being crowned 2021 world champion, after race director Michael Masi chose to ignore Safety Car rules and protocols.
The reactions from many fans and observers Formula 1 are not dying down, and a lot of people are pointing to the unjust way in which the race win and the 2021 championship were taken away from Lewis Hamilton.
Red Bull team boss Christian Horner, however, believes in time people will forget the circumstances of Max’s title win.
“People in this business have such very short memories,” Horner said.
“We’ve even forgotten what happened [in the year]. It was such a long racing season. Max is absolutely a deserving world champion.

“When you look at the championship as a whole, of course, the events in Abu Dhabi drew an awful lot of comment but that happens in sport.
“We had a lot of bad luck last year, we got fortunate with a safety car, we made the right strategic calls, great strategy, great teamwork and great execution by Max, and we won the race.
“Time will move on. Max is a very deserving world champion, we are incredibly proud of that, and the history books will always show he is the 2021 world champion,” concluded Red Bull’s team boss.
Red Bull leadership has already stated in numerous interviews that Verstappen’s title was ‘deserved’, and with Horner now claiming the controversy will be forgotten in time, it’s fair to ask: If the results of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix are fair and legitimate, what is there to forget?
