American former Indycar and NASCAR driver Danica Patrick says Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff seemed “cool and calm“ after a loss at the US Grand Prix, and she thinks “one race isn’t going to phase them”.

Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes were unsuccessful in beating Max Verstappen and Red Bull at the United States Grand Prix.

The Circuit of the Americas has usually been a strong track for the German team, so Red Bull’s win there is definitely not a good sign.

However, Danica Patrick, who was a part of Sky Sports F1’s broadcast team for the race, believes Lewis and Mercedes will bounce back.

“True champions know how to come back,” Patrick said.

“I feel like Mercedes still had a great attitude today – both Toto and Lewis seemed really cool and calm and I think that’s going to pay off.

“They’ve been around, they’ve accomplished a tonne and this one race isn’t going to phase them with five to go.”

Danica says the five remaining races are enough for Mercedes to turn things around.

“I thought Toto seemed calm, Lewis seemed calm and at the end of the day there’s basically a quarter of a season left.

“That’s a lot of season left and a lot can happen. At this point in time you have to look at the positives, and that’s that five races left.

“DNFs are possible and being exceptional just as they have done in history is totally possible,” Patrick concluded.
