Daniel Ricciardo says Lewis Hamilton is “one of the greatest ever to do it” and “competing with him, going wheel to wheel with him, is fun – it’s awesome”.
Daniel Ricciardo will be leaving Formula 1 at the end of the 2022 season, and there are rumours that he could end up at Mercedes in a reserve driver role.
Not only that, but it was being suggested that he might even get a driving role, if Lewis Hamilton was to retire. However, Lewis clearly stated that he intends to remain in the sport long-term.
When asked about this, Ricciardo said he doesn’t want Lewis to leave.
“The truth is I want him to stay in the sport,” the Australian said.
“He’s one of the greatest ever to do it and I think competing with him, going wheel to wheel with him, is fun – it’s awesome.

Sky Sports also asked George Russell if he would like to see Daniel at Mercedes.
“Yeah, I think that’d be interesting,” George said.
“I think we’d like to see that, but it’s up to Daniel to see what he wants to do with his future,” he concluded.
