F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali says F1 “cannot intervene” to step in to ‘stop’ Red Bull’s dominance, because they “cannot intervene in the performance of the teams”.
Last year Formula 1 introduced a new set of technical regulations, which completely changed the cars.
Many believe that a big reason for the introduction of this huge change was an attempt to stop Mercedes’ eight-year streak at the top of the sport.
If we take a look at Mercedes’ performance in 2022 and 2023, it most definitely worked. However, now Red Bull has jumped so far ahead of everybody else, that there is no serious competition for them.
This caused many fans and observers to suggest that the FIA and F1 should step in to ‘stop’ the dominant Austrian team.

When asked about this at an event hosted by the Financial Times, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said this cannot be done.
“This year, we need to say the truth: Red Bull did a better job than the others,” Domenicali said.
“It’s a fact. But I would be imprudent to say the championship is finished.
“We cannot intervene in the performance of the teams.
“I am sure what we did in terms of financial regulations will help to minimise the gap on the technical side,” he concluded.
