After the Spanish Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso gave his comments on the fact that Mercedes surpassed Aston Martin in the Constructors’ Championship standings.
After Mercedes’ fantastic P2 and P3 at the Spanish Grand Prix, the German team surpassed its customer team Aston Martin in the Constructors’ Championship standings.
Aston Martin has been able to make a big leap in performance from 2022 to 2023, and has even outperformed Mercedes in the first part of the season.
However, Mercedes’ performance in Barcelona with the upgraded W14, seems to indicate that the German team is now again ahead of Aston Martin.
Fernando Alosno, however, doesn’t believe that is the case.

“It’s only one race, in Canada we [will] demolish them,“ Alonso said after the race.
“I leave here happy because qualifying was our pain point. I came back well from my starting spot. We limited the damage.
“Mercedes made gains among the constructors, but we have outrun Ferrari.
“I’m happy with that,” the Spaniard concluded.
