Newly appointed Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur says he will “fight like hell” with his friend Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff, on and off the track.
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff and newly appointed Ferrari Team Principal Frederic Vasseur, have been friend for a long time.
However, when asked how their private relationship will affect their respective teams’ on-track battle, Vasseur said he expects a fierce fight, but doesn’t expect things to get personal.
“I know that we will fight on track,” Vasseur said.
“We’ll [also] fight to the stewards, we’ll fight in the FIA, we’ll fight [over] the Concorde Agreement… And this is life.”
However, he also believes that a good relationship between team bosses is a positive for the sport.

“I think for the global picture, it’s an advantage to have a very good collaboration between teams.
“When the common interest of the teams [and] F1 will be to have a discussion and to find an agreement, I think it will be a huge advantage to have a good relationship.
“I have good relationships with [several] of my colleagues, and I think this is always good.
“[But you can] be sure that I will fight like hell with Toto on track and [off] the track,” Vasseur concluded.
