Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto says he doesn’t regret Ferrari not signing Lewis Hamilton and adds he thinks Charles Leclerc can challenge the seven-time champion.
At the beginning of 2020 there were a lot of rumours about Lewis Hamilton’s possible jump to Ferrari. The talk died down a bit by mid-year, as all parties involved said this is not something they were seriously considering.
With a driver line-up of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz confirmed, and Lewis Hamilton likely to sign a contract extension with Mercedes, Mattia Binotto was asked if he thinks Ferrari will regret not signing the Briton while there still was a chance.

“I don’t think there will be regret because at the end when we took some decisions, we took them thinking they were the right decisions and today we have a fantastic driver like Charles where we invested a lot as Ferrari,” Binotto told Sky Sports.
“I think he’s got a lot of talent. If he’s got the right car, I’m pretty sure he can challenge Lewis Hamilton.
“We’ve made our choices, and I think together with Carlos we are very strong.
“I don’t think there will be any regret,” reiterated Binotto.
